Outre Nadi

I have always been a fan of short hairstyles. I love a nice pixie cut or bob. However, I have never had the desire to cut my hair. Fortunately for me, there are ways around that. I have worn a variety of wigs over the years that enabled me to get the short look I wanted without actually cutting my hair.

Well Summer is quickly approaching and I am thinking about short cuts instead of braids this year.  I decided I wanted a short wavy look.  I glanced at a few styles online and decided to start with Outre Nadi.  It took two days for Nadi to arrive.  I was so excited to try her on.  That excitement left quickly.  Actually as soon as I pulled her out.  This is what I was expecting.

This is what I received.

What

Is

This?

It looks like two doll scalps sewn together; two doll scalps with two different textures.  I immediately stuffed it back in the box after sending a picture to the seller.  It gets crazier.  The seller didn’t see the problem.  I was sure I received a wig with a manufacturer defect but the seller said they all look that way.  So in short, if you were considering purchasing Nadi; don’t.  I sent her back.

Wigtorials Coming Soon

Everybody knows I love wigs. I change my look often. I like to keep my hair natural. My wigs allow me to achieve all the looks I want without having to apply excessive amounts of heat to my hair or chemicals. I love the freedom of changing my color, texture, and length daily if I choose; all while knowing my natural hair is healthy and free of damage.

I am old fashioned in the sense that I like to buy my wigs in-store.  That’s about to change though.  So many people buy wigs solely online and with good reason, cost.  Purchasing wigs online will result in average savings of 40% compared to what you would spend in a store.  That’s all I needed to know.

I’m preparing to make the switch to online wig shopping.  There is something that is bothering me though.  When it comes to wigs, I like to try before I buy.  Someone suggested that I pick out my wigs online; then try on the wigs in a store before placing my order.  That sounds like a good idea but it has been difficult.  The stores rarely have my selections in stock.  My next option is to watch video reviews.  That’s the next best thing to trying it on myself, right?

That brought me to my next problem.  I have a short attention span.  I am easily distracted.  Everything I want to know about a wig can be communicated in 60 seconds.  I do not want to sit through a ten minute video of someone stumbling over their words to get the answers I need.  I don’t want to be cross sold on other products either.  I just want to know if the wig is right for me.  Since I am not getting the answers I need I will just take a gamble and place an order.  Once the order arrives I will do my own video review.  It will be the kind of video review I would like to see.  It will be short and to the point.  We need short and sweet video reviews for people like me.  I accept the mission.

Wig Head vs. Clip Ons

Hair styling is not something I love or even like.  More often it’s something I avoid.  For me, it consumes too much time.  It also puts a halt to my spontaneity.  I have shoulder length natural hair (not chemically treated).   When it comes to hair, I’m a huge fan of variety.  My natural hair gives me more options.

Most days  I’m a wig head.  It’s a no brainer for me.  Wigs give me the get up and go I need.I should also mention in my profession braids and weaves are a bad investment.  I have to be able to change my hair at a moments notice.  With that said, I decided to give clip on extensions a try.

In theory this is ideal.  However, I am off to a not so good start.  I ordered the extensions by mail (possibly my first mistake).  I was impressed upon opening the package.  My excitement changed to disappointment quickly.  I inspected each piece.  Then returned them to the packaging  When I went to put the package away, there was hair on the counter.  Shedding?!? They haven’t even been worn.

I need to hear others experiences.  Is this normal?
