We all have lip gloss, lip stain, and lip stick readily available. So why do so few of us have lip exfoliator? It’s no secret that attractive lips are soft and smooth. So why pay more attention to the color than what’s underneath? Have you ever seen a beautiful lip color on peeling lips? It’s distracting to say the least. I’ll be the first to admit that I have experienced this.
Learn from my mistakes. Don’t cut corners. Exfoliate! I could spend the whole day going on about skin care. Though today I will keep my focus solely on lips. There are a number of ways to reach destination baby soft lips. Find what works for you. These are the two most common ways.
Brushing – This one is not my favorite but it’s convenient for many. It’s exactly what it sounds like. You simply brush your lips with a soft bristle tooth brush. A pro to this technique is you can do it when you brush your teeth. This makes it easy to incorporate into a daily routine. Though I prefer a technique a little more gentle. Every time I see someone taking a tooth brush to their lips I have flash backs to my CPK days. I use to work there as a hostess. It was many years ago but I clearly remember another hostess that would use the toothpicks from the hostess stand to exfoliate her lips. She would just roll the tooth pick back and forth over her lips. I don’t know if it worked. I couldn’t stand to watch.
Scrubbing – This is my preference. It’s quick and effective. You can create a quick scrub by mixing sugar and water to create a gritty paste. If you’re creative you can have lots of fun with creating your own scrub. The internet is filled with recipes if you cannot come up with your own. Here’s one that stood out to me, http://www.livestrong.com/article/178627-how-to-make-homemade-lip-scrub/
Of course you can walk into anyone’s beauty department and purchase lip scrub. I get my scrub from Victoria’s Secret.
I love that this scrub comes with lip balm. Don’t expect it to last as long as the scrub though. The lip balm will be gone before you finish the scrub.
Whether you’re brushing or scrubbing, you’ll also need a lip balm. My routine is to scrub before bed. Then apply lip balm. That’s how I obtain butter soft lips. What’s your routine?
